Is this too much data to display in a chart/graph??

    Hello there,

I work in a school and have some daily data over a few months I would like to display in some sort of visual format. However I'm unsure if I'm trying to display too much data and can't work out how to format the data for a chart or graph...am hoping someone clever here might be able to help.

Here is an example of my data:

I have three months of this data and just can't figure out how to display it - I have tried using a stacked column, but could only manage to get that to work for each day, and didn't really want nearly ninety graphs!

Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated because I'm a bit stuck!

    Welcome to the forum.

You will need to aggregate your data somewhere and then base your graphs and charts on that amalgamated set.

Re: Is this too much data to display in a chart/graph??

    Many thanks for the replies,

Attached is a small Excel sheet showing all I have managed to do so far. As you can see, I have managed to create a fairly useless chart thats shows the data for one day, showing engagement for AM, Lunch and PM. The "1" in the data cells is just to show there was some engagement in an activity or task and is not a grade or scale number, so could just as easily be a "Yes" there was some engagement.

Ideally, I would like to show a trend over the months of which activities there has been engagement in, but am thinking I might need to find a different way to display this data as there is so much.

Really appreciate any ideas with this! Thank you for your time.

You've given us one day's worth of data ... The idea was to look at what you have (you mentioned lots of days) and then suggest how to aggregate it.

I'm not sure you are tracking what is necessary for the outcome you are looking for. Could you simply use something like this?
