Question Chart - Stacked column from one data series

This should be simple, but I am scratching my head. I have data like the below and I want to create a stacked chart where all the "A's" are one color, all the "B's" are another, etc. Tried Pivot, subtotal, and am at a loss. Thanks in advance.

    A 1200
    A 2390
    B 2331
    B 9299
    B 3000
    C 5999
    C 9833

Have you tried something like this: https://peltiertech.com/conditional-...-excel-charts/ where you put a row across the top with A, B, C, ... then use a formula to populate each column with the appropriate values?

    Thank you Mr Shorty,

This is good but doesn't hit the mark for me. I need to be able to group the values based on the letter, then show the chart with one bar/column separated into colors based on the individual rows.

Recognizing that Peltier's tutorial was for a clustered column chart, where you say you want a stacked column chart, I would have expected it to work just fine as long as you recognize that you need a stacked column chart where he is using a clustered column chart. Did you get the clustered column chart? Did you change your chart type to stacked column? With the adjustment for the slightly different chart type, I would have expected it to work just fine. What did you get and what do you need different?

We ended up running the query to display the data differently, and the chart worked without formulas.

    A B C
    1233 2332 4888
    2888 8888 9183

    Something like the above.
