    One serie with two axis

    Hi!

I want one serie to plot on two y-axis, one axis showing a tonnage and one showing percentage. How can I do that?

Re: One serie with two axis

That's going to require 2 series.
One for the tonnage and the other percentage.

The chart will not calculate the values for you so you will probably need to calculate percentage data.

Once the 2 series are in a chart you can select Percentage series and move to secondary axis

Thanks Andy! What I manage to do is two lines, one that shows tonnage and one that shows percentage. Now, I want these lines to merge so that the highest value on the tonnage scale is the same as a 100% on the percentage scale. This way I will only have one line. Maybe I din't get your guidelines correctly, but is this what you described?

    Cheers Desiré

If you want to align 100% with highest value you will need to mix the min/max values of both scales.

Primary (tonnage) 0 and 550 (over whatever the actual value is)
    Secondary (%) 0 and 1

Can you please attach a sample file that will make it a lot easier to come up with solutions.

see the yellow banner at the top of your screen to see how to do that..

Since it appears that your percentage scale will just be proportional to your tonnage scale, a technique like this would also work: https://peltiertech.com/secondary-ax...tional-scales/

Now there is an example file attached. If only I could create a formula for the maximum value of the secondary axis, then the two would be synchronized.

That's right! I tried following the instructions you referred to, but I didn't manage to add the data points to the right y-axis.

The example is the 2 series approach.
You just need to set the Min/Max values of the scales.

I have deleted the second series from the legend and removed the line formatting

Re: One serie with two axis

I would change the % of plan to actual percentages and then use the "Value from cells" option under the data labels that will not require a secondairy axis and allows to show the percentage of the label alone or combine value and percentage

i made 3 versions on how to present
You can set the Values from Cells by selection Data Labels > more options under the plus button next to the graph

The values from cells options makes for very a flexible tool to set custom labels for graph data points.

This looks good! I don't understand how you got the percentage scale on the secondary axis!? The data will be updated each week, and preferably I want to avoid rescaling the axis for each new set of data. Seems like I have to leave that idea though...

Thank you for the examples Roel! I might have to go with one of those...
