    Welcome to the forum.

Please look at the splash screen when you launch Excel to find out the version you are using, then add this to your profile instead of "idk", please.

Now, please make an effort to describe what you are trying to do.

I will edit my profile as soon as I get back to my computer...

I’ve explained the problem in the excel file using pictures and words...

Long story short: I want to graph X and Y values that have are sort of like labels rather than numbers. In other words, I want excel to graph -1,0 differently from -1,0 on the same axis. This is more clear in the file as I explain it using graphs.

I went into your file and changed the chart type of graph 1 from XY scatter to line, then formatted the data series to be markers without line. I didn't understand all of what you showed in your file, but that is my first guess at what you want.

Is it as simple as changing the chart type to line instead of scatter?

I don't think this helps. I think it's fairly clear in the file but maybe it did not upload correctly? For one x value I have two y values. If the two y values are identical, excel graphs them on top of each other. I need to be able to show that x has two y's even if the y's are the same number. Please refer to the bottom of the 2nd graph... the values should be 0 -1 -2 -1 0 in that order.

I still must not be understanding. When I change the chart type from scatter to line in my copy of your file, Excel shows the X axis just like you describe (0, -1, -2, -1, 0). When you change the chart to a line chart type, does your copy of Excel do something different with X axis labels?

Okay I think we're getting somewhere... So I found the line thing you said and I was able to delete the line in place of markers but the graph is doing something weird. I played around with it a little but still couldn't figure it out (ie x and y axis are flipped).I have attached the file

In this file, it looks like you started by creating a new chart rather than editing/formatting the old chart. When you created the new chart, Excel appears to have interpreted the two columns as two separate data series and defaulted to a built in "count numbers" category axis. My next steps:
    1) Select the new chart
    2) Bring up the select data dialog (wherever that is in your version of Excel). I find that Excel frequently "guesses" wrong at what I want, so I find myself frequently invoking the Select Data dialog when creating charts, so it is useful to know how to use this dialog.
    2a) Remove/delete series 1 based on column B.
2b) Find and click on the "Edit" button for the horizontal category axis data, and tell Excel to use B2:B10 for the category axis data.
    3) Any other formatting as desired.

Your chart should be pretty close to what you want.
