    Updating Data Table

This is probably so simple a caveman can do it (no offense to any neanderthals that may be reading) but apparently, it's too difficult for me to figure out.

I have a data table in which the data will update regularly. I'm trying to figure out how to make the table update when the data updates. I've attached a simple example of what I'm trying to achieve.

To explain, though... I have a list of people and fruit they've chosen. The table would contain those same people and would count how often they chose each fruit. In my real world file, the people will change, therefore the fruit choices change. However, the fruit categories themselves, will always remain the same.

    Thanks for looking!

The easiest way would be to use a pivot table. This can be refreshed with a right click and/or set to refresh ever time the file is opened.

    Please see the attachment.

    Hi,

    Using Power Query is easy
Format your source to table, Data> From table, Pivot Column in Power Query and load back to Excel

try changing data in your left table or add data, right-click / refresh on the green Power Query table, that simple

Very nice! I couldn’t figure out how to make that into a pivot like you did. Once I get to a laptop, I’ll look at your example and dissect. This is great, though. In the actual spreadsheet, I have a macro that pulls in the data and refreshes the multiple pivot charts that already exist on there. Having this will be a bonus

Also very nice! I’ve not used PowerQuery before. I’ll definitely be looking into that also! Will let you know how it goes once I’ve been able to log in and review on a laptop.

    Thanks for the tip!

That really was so easy that a caveman could do it! Not sure what my issue was... thanks so much!

Looks like Power Query is for older versions of Excel and has been replaced with PowerPivot in my version. I've played with it a little bit but not much. I will definitely be looking at it more, though. Thanks so much for the advice!
