labels for numbers on the x-axis

    Dear all,
whenever you have age groups or other labels for x-axis they all turn into numbers (1, 2,3.....) immediately you choose scatter diagram.
is there anyway to "forcefully" label these numbers back to age groups or other label. i mean, retaining the numerical values but with labels say 18-19, 20-24, 25-29 etc. i have attached a copy of the anonymised data and chart.

    thanks

My first thought would be to use a line chart rather than a scatter chart. Is there a reason you need to use a scatter chart for this?

I'm not sure I understand. A line chart should have no trouble showing the scatter points and the fitted line. Will you copy of Excel not allow you to format your line chart to show both the scatter points and the fitted line?

It might be that the source data is formatted as a number. You can force Excel to treat the number as text by placing an apostrophe in front of numeric value in the cell. The chart will then display the value without auto reformatting it as a numeric value
