Hide legend items in a line graph when associated value = blank

I have a pivoting table and a line chart that plots the results of the selection made for the filters of the table. The solution proposed here http://www.excelforum.com/excel-char...-or-blank.html doesn't fully work for historical data plotting and hence for a line chart. Can someone give me a suggestion of how to adapt the solution above to my case or propose another approach?

Bumping this thread I have a column chart with the same problem - I don't wanna graph empty series but I still need them to be part of the potential graph area. I have named ranges going for other graphs but this one is causing me problems. Using a named range when setting up the graph works fine - until the data is updated and new series are added.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
