ive attached this demo chart, I cannot seem to get the date column labels under each bar on this chart, I`d like them displayed vertically below each bar. thank you!

also, I seem to be able to appy the different colours using the colour schemes on the above chart, but cant get it to work on the TAB "invoice chart 1", I can only get single colour for those bars regardless of the colour schemes I choose...

As to your 2 issues, i'd like to say, different perspectives result in the different color themes.
In the colorful chart, you assigned each of invoice amount as a complete series so that different colors apply; as each of these series contains only one entry (amount), only one corresponding entry shows ("invoice amount" was assigned here).
In the pivotchart, X-axis defaults to row fields from the underlying pivottable while data series default to values fields; colors apply in case that there're more than one values fields. (pls see attached file)
As for the multi-colored chart, if you want all dates to display below each bar, the simplest way is to assign them as (horizontal) category; the column of invoice amount is to be turned into one series accordingly. By this means, bars belong to the same series, thus only one color shows.
btw, Turning the dataset into a table bring about a great advantage in terms of maintenace or data expansion. (pls see attached file)

In your first chart, you have set it up so that each data point is a separate series. That is why you are able to get all those colors; each series has its own color. However, there are no x values so there is nothing to put on the horizontal axis. In your head the x values are the dates, but that is not the way the chart is built. Here is how the series is established for your first data point. As you can see, there is a range for the series values (there is only one point) but no x values. That is how this type of chart is defined.

In the second chart there is only one series, and one series has one color. You can manually change the colors of individual bars by clicking on a bar (then the entire series will be selected) then click again to select the individual data point, then you can right click to format the color. You cannot do this automatically.
