pivot table not updating after entering figures into data set.

Help!

I created this pivot table on the 2nd sheet, to fill up when data is entered on the first sheet (date, invoice amount), but on entering data into the database, the pivot table doesnt seem to update even after CTRL ALT F5 or Refresh all...

Normally the pivot table updates after refreshing and the chart fills up. Can you help me fix this please?

I protected part of the sheet on tab 1, would this affect the pivot table on tab 2? (sheet 2)

even when I unprotect that first sheet section, same problem, I can see the data in the filters, but not in the columns or chart.

I realized I had filters with hidden fields in the FIELD LIST.

However (please see updated chart attached) I am now getting BLANK fields, and I dont know how to get rid of them.
If I do get rid of them by unticking them in the field list, I think it causes problems in the pivot table... I removed all items from the field list, did a refresh all, and put them back in and refresh all again.
I dont know why i`m getting the blanks..

when I add new rows in the data base, the month and year fields in the field list filter do not have them selected although they do appear.. so they dont show in the pivot table..even after I "refresh all"...

I replicated a brand new workbook, and still getting the BLANK field in the pivot table, its driving me crazy, I need to get this to work...

I suspect it is because you are using a way too big data source reference 'Data Table'!$A:$H
Replacing it with something smaller like 'Data Table'!$A1:$H100 works normally
Eventually use the Excel table ( select the existing data - Insert - Table) as data source, as the PT will adapt automatically when data is added

hi Pepe, the PT doesnt update for me even after converting to Table, anyway, still having problems, after converting to table, the chart still not updating, have to keep going into the filter to tick the next box.

And the pivot table now seems to place the new month entry above the preceding months which ruins the chart as well. Here you can see June above February, march ,april.

I fixed it!
I started from scratch, created a 1 row list, and converted it to a TABLE, this got rid of the blanks in the pivot table filter. And created a pivot table from there it worked, adding rows to the table copied the formulas down, and just use CTRL ALT F5 after clicking a cell in the pivot table to update it...
