My spreadsheet has many columns, but column A shows the date of a donor's donation, and column T shows the amount of the donation.
I would like to create a bar chart that:
1. Has a vertical bar showing the total donations for a specific date
2. The dates run across the horizontal access
3. The Dollar amount runs up the vertical access.
Can you tell me how to do this?

1) Select your source data -> Insert Pivot table/chart.
2) Tell the PT to put the dates as the row labels and sum of donations as the value field.
3) Other table/chart formatting as needed.

The value field of a pivot table has several options -- sum, count, average, etc. If you want the count of donations instead of the sum of donations, change the values field option to count. If you want both sum and count, have two values fields in the pivot table.
