    Removing Duplicate Months in Chart

    Hello,

I searched the forum but wasn't able to find anything related to my issue.

I've created a timeline using a bar chart but the X-axis is showing Jul, Sep, Oct and Dec twice. How do I fix this so the chart only shows each month once?

FYI, the minimum bound is 44015 (Jul 3/20) and the maximum bound is 44215 (Jan 19/21)

Re: Removing Duplicate Months in Chart

I found the solution. In the 'Axis Options' menu for the date range, I changed Major Units to 31 and this fixed the issue

What is the major unit value for the horizontal axis? If you use 30 for the major unit, you should be able to get most months to only appear once, though it will not be apparent using only a mmm/yy number format if the gridline is early in the month or late in the month, and you will probably get one of the 31 day months where there are still 2 gridlines for that month (one for the 1 of said month and one for the 31 of said month).

In order to get a good "date" axis (where Excel will use its built in calendar to place gridlines monthly), you will need to create some kind of bar + (column or line or other chart that can use a date axis for the horizontal axis), then format the bar chart's horizontal axis and the other chart's horizontal axis so they start and end on the same date. How much effort do you want to go to to have a proper date axis?

Edit to add -- changing the major unit to 31 will probably cause it to "skip" over a 28/30 day month at some point.
