Stacked area chart with smooth connection to historic data

    Hi there!

I want to connect historic data with projections up to year 2050 in a stacked area chart (want it to be stacked because the total is most important). Having the classic problem of not getting a clean edge on the two sets of datapoints (historic and projections). I've solved getting a clean edge at the end of the first series, but the second series still starts at zero. In the end I cheated and covered up the connection with a bar. Any solutions to solve it properly?

Yes. Assuming you horizontal values are actual dates you can insert a repeat of the last current data set with zero values.

Andy, thanks a million! I don't quite understand how your chart doesn't stack all 8 columns for the historic dates? Attaching my workbook - maybe you can help me fix it?

You need to move 4 of the series to the secondary axis.
