Aligning X,Y Scatter Markers with Column Centers

Hi and a very Happy New Year to everyone.

We're using MS 365 on a subscription for now, running on Windows 10. I do have two questions at the moment: 1) Aligning markers and 2) How to get Excel to autoupdate changes via a cloud or the Windows cloud (OneDrive, I think it's called). New to clouds and newish to Excel so if I should separate these questions, just let me know.

In the attached .xlsx file, the white scatter chart with a blue line is the new effort to get line chart markers to snap to the center of the columns each marker represents. The violet chart, to the side, is my first effort, moved there to make room.

My son has diabetes insipidus from a brain tumor and his daily fluid intake and output have to be critically monitored. The line charts (I also need to add a series (on the white scatter chart) to indicate his urine output so fluid in and fluids out can be compared side by side for quick reference) are used in conjunction with lab results (for one) and it helps to have all the chart markers line up with the center of each column for that day's data so we can correlate fluid excess/deficit with lab results.

If I understand question #1 correctly then I believe that changing the chart type from scatter to line with markers will do what you want (place the markers in the center of each column).

Hi JeteMc - thanks for this. I started out with Line and after a few months of trying to find a way to align the markers, I switched to Scatter - both types appear to display the same disconnectedness of the marker to the column. Still looking though.

I cannot look at your sample file, so I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are trying to do, but your question reminds me of this tutorial from Jon Peltier: https://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts...olAndLine.html I expect that understanding the two methods that Jon uses for creating a combination clustered column/clustered line will help you resolve the issue in your sheet.

Giving this a bit more consideration, I have begun to feel that you want to align the markers in the chart with the columns in the spreadsheet as opposed to columns or vertical gridlines in the chart.
As in you would like the marker for November 1 to align with column B and the marker for November 30 to align with column AE is that correct?

Hi JeteMc - I believe that's it, yes. Each column is one day's data. The line/scatter charts markers should reflect the specified data input for that day - centered in the day's column.

Perhaps the following as modeled in the attached file:
1. Remade the November chart so that the vertical axis is on the left side
2. Widened column A to match the leftmost horizontal gridline of the chart
3. Inserted a new column AF
4. Set the column widths of columns B:AE to 10

JeteMc - this appears to be exactly my intent. Thank you! Very busy today and just saw your post - I'll try to better understand what you did tomorrow morning (things're hectic these days). I want to be sure I understand so I can carry the modeling forward to new tables but I think this is going to work. Thank you again.
