Help with getting set variables in x axis and names as a data label

    Hello,

Hope this finds you all well.

I'm fairly inexperienced with pivot tables and charts so I hope my title description is appropriate.

In the excel file attached I have a "data" sheet that I converted to a table and a "Sheet3" sheet where I attempted to make a pivot chart in the matter that I am going to describe.

What I am trying to do is to have the y axis be the % that's listed, I would like the x axis to the the numerical values (1, 2, 3, 4, etc) that are listed in row 1 above each %. In addition, I would like the names to appear as a data label for the line. So, for the example in the file, I would want 6 lines with markers in my chart and I would want the name of the player that represents the line to be above.

I have added an example line chart with the format I described above to make it easier in the "example" sheet. Hope that gives a better idea of what I am trying to do.

Really hope this makes some sense. Appreciate you all taking the time!

If you want to use a pivot table/chart you will need to revise the layout of your data.
    The field headers would be

    Player Team Pos Index Value

If you just want a chart you should be able to create on based on the original data layout, without the pivot table.

    Hi Andy,

    Thanks for your help.

I think this helps but honestly not sure. I noticed in sheet 1 you rearranged the data I had in "data" to go up and down and added an index. How do I go about doing that myself? So, the data that I have in "Data", I would like to know how you got it to look like the table in "sheet 1".

    Thanks again.

For the example I simply used cut and paste to rearrange the data.

If you have more data in your real data set then you can use either formula or VBA to rebuild data. I'm sure there are plenty of posts on how to rotate and expand datasets.
