Adding more than 6 legends to a chart.

    Hi there,

New here, first of all many thanks for looking and any and all help!

I downloaded an excel budget template and I am trying to customize it for myself.

The issue I have is with the expenses chart - It is only showing 6 legends and I have 9 that I would like to show. I have changed the names of them by going into the name manager but it is only showing the first 6 not all of them.

If someone could please look at this for myself and either change it for myself or explain how I can do this, I would be greatly appreciative.

    Your file reports as corrupted.

Make sure the legend box is large enough to display all series.

You could try deleting the legend and then reshowing it.

Re: Adding more than 6 legends to a chart.

When I open your sample file, I see that the chart is using the named range "CategoriesExpense" for the horizontal category axis data range and the named range "PercentsExpense" for the values/series range. Looking at the definitions for "CategoriesExpense" and "PercentsExpense", CategoriesExpense consists of an array of 9 text constants and PercentsExpense consists of 6 cells. I expect that Excel is choosing not to display the "missing" categories in the legend. I would also expect that, if you edit the definition of PercentsExpense so that it includes 9 cells, it will display all 9 categories in the legend.
