Pivot table is NOT refreshing after updating the base table- Any thoughts?

I used SAS program to apply all the business rules to process my data then export the line list to excel template. This Excel template has 2 sheets. One sheet has the line list (id, date entered, events, depts)

Based on this line list. I created a pivot table in new sheet called Summarycounts. Every day when I update the line list I expected to updated the pivot table. But it's NOT getting updated.
To be specific the Grand Total ( both Row and column totals) .
My pivot table has events as columns and depts as rows with sub group for date entered

In the Excel template I refreshed the properties, but don't see the grand total getting updated.

Any thoughts what is the best way to update pivot table on a daily basis?

Actually this is not working either because every day when I run my SAS program it reads the excel template and over writes the table instead of appending. Because the table ranged is changed and the table format is dropped the pivot table i snot getting refreshed with new data
