Adding a Calculated field to divide one column by another

Banging my head against the wall. In a cell this is easy, in Pivot Table all I get is DIV/0 when I try to create a new custom field in the report to show a percentage calculation.

    = COMPLETED / TOTAL ASSIGNED

I admit, my Pivot Skill is low low low. What am I missing?

In the DATA I added columns K & M trying to help, they aren't really part of the data, it's normally just A:J, fyi.

    I'm at work using Office365.

Re: Adding a Calculated field to divide one column by another

You can either add the data to the data model so that you can use Power Pivot, and create measures for the two counts, then another measure that divides one by the other, or you can add two columns to your source data: one that just returns 1 for each assignments and one as you have in column K. You can then SUM each of those to get a count, and create a calculated field that divides one by the other. Calculated fields in regular pivot tables always operate on a SUM of the fields involved.

Grr, ok, I thought that was what I tried to do and it seemed to not work in the uploaded sample file. I'll try again.

Got it working. I was being dense. I had added a numeric field one of the two columns, I needed to do it for both of the fields. Your answer was spot on!
