Hello - on the same stock spreadsheet where I have the "volume" being plotted as a line rather than a bar issue, I've found another (seemingly unrelated) question. I notice in my iterations of working with this chart that I've lost the ability to plot my "Close" price whereas earlier revisions of my spreadsheet graphed it correctly. I copied the "bad" chart as a separate worksheet in my sample spreadsheet I'm attaching here.
1. I make named ranges and then plot them in a chart using "Select Data"
2. The named ranges are Date, Open, High, Low, Close, Volume
3. In the good chart, Date, Open, High, Low, Close are plotted properly. (notice the hollow candlesticks)
4. In the bad chart, Close is not being graphed. (there are no hollow candlesticks)
5. I see no difference between the good and bad charts when I right click on the chart and choose "Change Chart Type". They're both "Combo-Custom Combination". I do find it odd that each series is blank under chart type, but whatever...
6. When I right click on the chart and choose "Format Plot Area", and then in the dropdown from Plot Area Options, I see a difference in the series Close.
On the good chart, when I click on the 3 column icon titled "Series Options" it comes up with an option for Gap Width indicating that this Close series is a bar (column) type.
On the bad chart, when I click on the 3 column icon titled "Series Options" I don't get that Gap Width option, indicating this Close series is not a bar (column) type.
7. There is only 1 "Close" data range defined (under Formulas > Name Manager)
I know #6 is the crux of my problem, but why is the Close series not being identified as a bar graph type on the bad chart and it is on the good chart?
8. I'm only able to display "Volume" as a line graph but I want to display it as a bar graph - but that's a separate question I asked yesterday.
Thanks for any help!
