    Calculated Field to divide amount by total and multiple by number

    Hi,

    I know I might need to put this formula outside of the pivot table after trying different ways but does anyone know of a way I can insert a calculated field to divide a number by the Grand Total and then multiple by a figure:
    For example:

    Name: Amount: Formula:
    A £10 (=£10/£37)*£5 = £1.35
    B £5 (=£5/£37) * £5 = £0.67
    C £3 etc
    D £8 etc
    E £11 etc.......
    Grand Total £37

    Thanks

    Is your profile up-to-date? Still using Excel 2003?

    Re: Calculated Field to divide amount by total and multiple by number

    As you are using the 365 version of Excel you could use Power Pivot.
    1. Convert A1:B6 into a table
    2. Add the table to the Data Model and then add a column (Total) populated using: =sum(Table1[Amount])
    3. Add a measure Formula:=SUM(Table1[Amount])/AVERAGE(Table1[Total])*5
    4. Produce a pivot table from the data model put Category in the Rows area then Amount and Formula in the Values area.
    Note that Formula is formatted through the Data Model.
