Creating a range and charting one data point within that range,

Thank you for any help in advance. I am looking to create something similar to the attached. There will be one data point that needs plotted, this data point will fall on a range that is broken up like 1-33 = good, 34-66 = bad, 67-100 = ugly.

    Your value is 78.

    | Good || Bad || Ugly |
    _______________^
    _______________78

    (See attached for better visualization)

If I could get that far it would be wonderful.

    Thank you!

Re: Creating a range and charting one data point within that range,

Your pictures look like stacked bar + xy scatter combination charts. Are you familiar with creating basic charts in Excel? With creating combo charts?

Start by entering the data for stacked bar chart and creating the stacked bar chart. Then enter the value for the single data point along with a dummy value (start with 1 maybe) and add that data series to the chart and make it a scatter chart. Tinker with it until you get what you want.

Yes, that is exactly what I am trying to create, thank you. Brought in the value as a scatter plot, and changed it to be what I wanted. I appreciate the help.

    Thank you.

Re: Creating a range and charting one data point within that range,

In my older version (I think most versions of Excel are similar) I would

Add an additional data series to the chart with either the data for the scatter chart or some dummy data or even empty data. This may temporarily break the chart.
Select the new data series and change chart type for that series to xy scatter.
Edit the source data for the xy scatter series to make sure it is using the correct data.
If Excel added secondary horizontal and vertical axes, format the secondary horizontal axis so that it mimics the primary horizontal axis (same min, max, etc.).
If necessary edit the values for the xy scatter series so that the data point is positioned correctly in the chart.

Re: Creating a range and charting one data point within that range,

The thing that I found I was frustrated with was that the one data point was no plotting properly when I imported the new number, it was behind a label so I couldn't see it, I had to change my range to bring the value into the chart the way I wanted and then added a cool icon to represent the value. Turned out really nice. Thank you again for your help, I guess I did know what I was doing, but what I was seeing wasn't working.... needed a little encouragement and confirmation. So thank you again MrShorty.
