How can i my data point to be grouped by month?

I have a pivot chart and it works great, but i want to create a different view to see by month instead of each day of the month.

In the attached picture you can see that its about every week there is a plot point, is it possible to change that to be by complete month or would i need to create a new chart type to get that type of grouping?

NO need for a new chart. Just GROUP the underlying Pivot Table Date column by Months.

Maybe im over thinking what you said, but are you saying that on the side where you pick your data you want to present in the chart, thats where to group it? Or are you saying to do the grouping within the raw data that is feeding the pivot chart?

to further elaborate on Richard's point; on the Pivot Table (upon which the Chart is based) you can Group the date field by Years & Months however, if you want both Daily and Monthly views then you need to do something a little different as the Grouping will apply to all Charts that share the same cache -- in this scenario you could either a) duplicate the date field (one you group, the other you don't) and use either/or for each chart or, b) create a 2nd Pivot using same underlying data but with distinct cache; which of a) or b) you opt for is likely to depend on the size of your source data as 2 large pivot caches will impact file size

attached is an example -- Sheet1 where you need only Monthly view; Sheet2 (option a) where you need both Daily & Monthly views.
