Is my data too complicated for a pivot table?

    Cross-posted at https://www.mrexcel.com/board/thread...table.1188961/

    Hi there,

I have a workbook (attached) which categorises activity of work across the year.

I'd like to be able to create a pivot which shows "Hours" per "Business Unit" across each month of the year (i.e. January, February, etc) so I can see the busiest times of the year for that Business Unit.

Unfortunately the dates that have been entered in the "Start" and "End" date columns span across a few months for some of the data.

Does anyone have any advice or tips on how I can do this?

    Thank you

this can be done by normal formulas, with pivottable is complex.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Next question ? Calculate in workdays (exclusive weekends and holidays) ?
That 'll give perhaps a minor difference.
