Chart number of people associated with a title in one axis and the percentage in the other

Ok. I know this is simple but I am in a panic because my entire data sheets were overwritten by a careless peer and I am having trouble concentrating to get this data back in order.

I have calculated a number of people associated with a title and the percentage of the total those represent. I need the number across the x axis and the percentage that represents on the x axis.

Why is my brain melting!?! I can't get it to do it. PLEEEASE help!

It sounds like it should be a basic scatter chart, doesn't it? Select B2:C4 (assuming upper left of your picture is A1) and insert a scatter chart. Make sure Excel uses column B for the x values and column C for the Y values (if Excel defaults to something else, you will need to fix it in the select data dialog). Is that what you want, or am I misunderstanding something?

This is what I keep getting. I want the percentages to 100% on the y axis and the bars to represent the percentages and the number of people listed on the x axis. Does that make sense?Attachment 757857

This is what I want except I want the x axis to list the 6, 271 and 8, not the percentage on the bottom.Attachment 757860

Sorry. I didn't see your post before I added my other explanations. Do they make any sense?

Your pictures did not attach correctly. Be sure to follow the instructions in the yellow banner when adding attachments.

Your latest descriptions sound more like a stacked column/bar or 100% stacked column/bar charts, but that doesn't make sense where you are asking about having one value along the horizontal axis and the other value along the vertical axis. Maybe it will make more sense when we get the pictures attached correctly.

OK. Let's see if those uploaded. The data is in the excel and the red circles are the parts I want to show but can't seem to combine those charts to make them reflect that data together.

My red circles are wrong. I'm a mess. I'm sorry. Here's the correction.

Your pictures appear to show data tables below the chart. I don't use these data tables, so I'm not sure what all can be done with them. Using what I know, I:

    1) Select A1:C4 -> Insert Chart -> clustered column chart.
    2) Pull up Select data dialog and remove the Total# series. Then edit the horizontal category axis so it is using A2:B4.

Is that close to what you are trying to do?

Very close. So, have everything I want everywhere I want it, but I would really like for the percentage NOT to show on the bottom (see red area), just in the green areas and on the Y axis. Is that possible?

Re: Chart number of people associated with a title in one axis and the percentage in the o

I cannot tell from a picture where the percentages below the chart are coming from. My two best guesses:

    1) If they are there as part of a chart data table, then eliminate the data table or change it so it doesn't show the percentages (help file for the most recent version, earlier versions should be similar: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...b-18f529543fd5 ).
    2) If they are there as part of the axis labels as defined by the horizontal category axis range, use the Select Data dialog to edit the definition of the horizontal category axis range so that the percentages are not included.

If they are displayed by some other means, then we may need an actual file to work with to understand why they are there and how to change it.
