How to choose the correct graph/chart for my data

    Hi all
I have no idea how to start ??
i have done the usual google search but i cant find what i need
i also am new to charts
i have multiple items that i want to graph sales over a 12 month period + projected for following year
i only have products sold per year (7 products in total) no month totals but yearly totals
    Example:
50 vipers sold in 2021 sell 200 vipers in 2022
    2 makos sold in 2021 sell 5 in 2022
    etc
not even sure what type of graph to use ? i assume a bar graph ?
any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: help on graphs newby on this topic

We'd need to see some sample data.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

    Did you find these?

    Administrative Note:

We would very much like to help you with your query, however the thread title does not really convey what your request is about. Tell us what you are trying to do, not how you think it should be done.

Please take a moment to amend your thread title. Make sure that the title properly explains your request. Your title should be explicit and not be generic (this includes function names used without an indication of what you are trying to achieve).

Please see Forum Rule #1 about proper thread titles and adjust accordingly. To edit the thread title, open the original post to edit and then click on Go Advanced (bottom right) to access the area where you can edit your title.

(Note: this change is not optional. As you are still a relative newcomer here (number of posts), I have done it for you this time.)

I explained how to attach your workbook - by workbook, I meant just that, NOT a picture of it with which I can do nothing other than admire its aesthetics.

Not much else I can do. Attached is a similar dataset to yours with three of many possible charts inserted.

Re: How to choose the correct graph/chart for my data

Have a look at the dataset I created. If it doesn't work for you, tell me why and I'll then look at the workbook.

    Here's similar applied to yours:

Re: How to choose the correct graph/chart for my data

Isn't it obvious when you click on the chart? The area selected is highlighted when you do.

    To do this yourself:

    1. Select cells A1:C9.
    2. Insert | Recommended Charts - choose the first option - OK.
