    Stacked graph

    Hi

    Year 9
    XYZ National
    Endorsed with Excellence 42.50% 21.10%
    Endorsed with Merit 43.40% 32%
    Achieved 95% 71.40%

    Year 10
    XYZ National
    Endorsed with Excellence 38.50% 17.90%
    Endorsed with Merit 34.60% 23.90%
    Achieved 100% 79.70%

I would like stacked graphs for the above two. I have followed instructions and drawn graphs I would like the stacked graph with 100% to be taller than the 95% achieved graph. For School XYZ- I would like the achieved, Endorsed wth excellence and endorsed with merit on one colum graph - 3 colours and copared to National. When I put year 9 and 10 beside each other the 100% is shorter than the 95% How to solve this problem

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Stacked graph

Difficult to say much based on just the text. What have you tried? How has it worked or not worked? As I see it (see below), the short answer is that you need to find/calculate the correct numbers for the chart, then arrange those numbers in a way that makes creating the chart easy, then create your stacked bar chart.

I find that a lot of charting questions often end up being about arranging data in the spreadsheet. Jon Peltier addresses this in this essay (https://peltiertech.com/good-chart-data/ ), which he covers in some detail. In short, if you get your data arranged in a way that Excel can easily parse categories/X values (years, I would guess in your case), values and data series (the different percentages). and series names, if needed, the chart will usually be easy to create.

One thing to remember about stacked charts is that it adds the second series onto the value below it. This means that the data you have above (if that is the only data you have tried) is unsuitable for a stacked chart. You usually need to add a row/column that will calculate differences between values so that they stack correctly. I also cannot see how the data you show adds up to 95% for year 9 and 100% for year 10, since the sums of the percentages are not those values. I expect there needs to be some clarification to the data (which probably means some formulas somewhere) to make the data for year 9 and year 10 make "sense" to the chart engine.

    Re: Stacked graph

Thank you so much. The information given was easy to understand and I was able to draw the graphs pretty easily the way it was supposed to be. Thank you immensely.
