Chart suddenly ignoring "do not overlap legend" setting

    Hello everyone,

I have a whole bunch of charts and for some reason the do not overlap the legend option is being ignored.
All charts are fully formatted so I really, really do not want to reset all charts just to get this function back.

I attached an example file. I have activated the do not overlap functions but it just keeps overlapping.

Can anybody help me figure out where the problem is? I cannot for the life of me find the problem or solution

    Thank you all
    Alex

It stops working if you change the position and or size of the plot area.

    Reapply the layout.

Re: Chart suddenly ignoring "do not overlap legend" setting

    Hello Andy,

    thank you, that is great!

Is it possible to adjust the space between right border and right plot area border via VBA? I.e. I would like to have e.g. 2 cm space between the right border of my plot and the outside of the chart (room for comments etc.). Can this be done?

yes you would need to modify the plot area Width.

You will need to workout the xxx value. Probably easiest to record a macro whilst you drag the plot area.

Re: Chart suddenly ignoring "do not overlap legend" setting

    Hello Andy,

I tried that but it does not yield the same result as it would when I do it manually.

If I manually change the pot area width, then obvisouly it works. But when I run the exact same code the macro recorder recorded, it will change the width and stay aligned on the right. I want to keep it aligned on the left side and create a gap on the right.

Little bonus question while I am implementing automatic axis formatting.
Do you know why the following only changes the axis title font color but not the axis label font color? I tried with macro recorder and it gives me the same code. But the color of the axis labels does not change.

This works for me on your example to set the plot area right border back to it's position once the layout has been updated.

Thank you Andy and apologies for the late reply. I changed my e-mail and it seems I did not get updates and was blocked from posting. So I had to change it back and forth and re-confirm.
