Pivot tables connected - but don't want them to be

    Group:

Sorry to ask this most elementary question, but I have to.

I was dealing with a pivot table grouped by dates, and then thought it would be too much for the reader to go through nigh 200 rows of pivot table, so i also wanted to group the pivot table by month.

Ideally, I wanted the two pivot tables (one by date, and the second by month) on the same page, but I couldn't figure that one out, so I decided to put the month group table on a new worksheet.

Well, I took a short cut and copied the first pivot table worksheet.

Seemed to work, but...now when I change the grouping in one worksheet it automatically changes the grouping in the other worksheet.

That's not what I want, if I change one to month grouping, I don't want the day grouping to change.

They seem to be connected somehow.

Any idea on how to disconnect them, so that when I change one's grouping, the other doesn't change?

I do not know how to break the grouping connection but you could go to PivotTable Tools, PivotTable Analyze, then Group Selection. Then highlight both Days and Months. This will allow you to collapse one table to months and leave the other expanded to days.

You need to unshare the common cache that the two Pivot Tables are using:
