Chart that shows count of codes per day

I have a simple workbook that has 2 cols. A date and a code. I need a chart that will show the number of times a code is used for each date. So for example, if I have the following data:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
It would show a graph, Im thinking a column graph, that would have 2 dates as its x axis (01/01/2019, 01/01/2020), and for 01/01/2019 it would have 2 bars, bar 1234 with a value of 2 because it was used twice on that day, and a bar 6789 with a value of 1. And then for 01/01/2020, it would have 3 bars. 1234 with a value of 1, 5555 with a value of 2, and 6789 with a value of 1.

I am attaching the spreadsheet and an image of what the graph looks like using a javascript library called highcharts, but I need to do this same kind of graph in Excel, and I dont know Excel that well. I hope I can get some help.

No......not SOMETHING like that...........PRECISELY like that!!!! That is perfect. Thank you very much!!! Now I just have to reverse engineer what you did to apply it to my real worksheet.

Re: Chart that shows count of codes per day

    Following steps:
1 Add a header to each column
2 Select a cell in the range
3 Select Insert - Pivot Chart
4 Select where you want it placed
5 Use dates as row labels and codes a column labels - also count of codes as summary
    Done

By selecting each series you can now format them as required, or play around with other types of charts ( Andy Pope's site is great)
