Hi All,
The horizontal axis labels on my chart are replaced by running numbers from 0 to 12. When I try to select data for that axis, the edit button is greyed out. I believe, the problem is that my labels are not years but half years (custom), so the system dies not recognize them as valid points in time.

You are correct that the chart is not recognizing the horizontal values as valid points in time, because they are really text strings, and a scatter chart doesn't know what to do with text strings.
What exactly are you wanting here?
Perhaps a line chart instead of a scatter chart? A line chart knows how to handle text categories on the horizontal axis. Perhaps the solution is to simply change the chart type.
Perhaps replace the existing text strings with real numbers (a scatter chart does know what to do with numbers along the x axis). Values like 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, etc. to represent each half year.
Would either of those simple changes be adequate to solve the problem?
