Filter date range in pivot without showing date in data area

Hi, is it possible to filter date range in pivot table without showing DATE as part of data?

    e.g. There are 1000 rows data A = date / B = Name / C = Number.
I need a pivot showing total number by Name for a specific date range (e.g. using Date as Filter fields above data section)

The dates would have to be part of the source data, but they would not have to be shown in the pivot table if that is what you mean.
In drop down in cell B1 all of the dates in the desired range would need to be checked; however, for the 2019 version of Excel a Timeline might be a better option.
If I have missed the point of the question, then please attach a sample workbook illustrating the issue to your response.

Re: Filter date range in pivot without showing date in data area

    Hi JeteMc,
Thank you for your reply. The sample headers in pivot picture above can provide the desired output.

However, the pain point is to select individual dates in the filter (from drop down list in B1). Therefore, I wonder if any easier options that can choose the dates e.g. as if we use normal excel “filter” function on data (without pivot), it allow us to choose specific year, and then we can opt out some month or date.

PS : The actual data contains more columns that require grouping by pivot but I just show simple sample to illustrate this specific issue.
