Pivot - Sorting by chronological order and cumulative count

Hi,

Am building up a Pivot table from a register and am wanting to sort via the earliest date to the latest date. After reverting to the date filters, I can?t seem to set them in chronological order. The source information seems to be correct and is labelled via the date field.

Every time I sort by date, it seems to randomly jumble the data and not put in order.

Also, what it seems to be doing is sorting via the day and no the date. (i.e. will show 1-jun, 1-Jul, 1-Oct, 2-April, etc. ....... 1, 2, 3, 4 and not bey actual date.

And once this is done, would like another pivot table that adds the cumulative cost (from project start) of each package (This would basically show a line on a graph going from the bottom left to the top right as time progresses)

If you want to sort by date, the date has to be the first row field. rather than package name.
