Trying to have Column Chart w/ 2 different Y-axis Data Ranges

I am really new to creating charts, and am trying to create a Column Graph that will have 2 different data ranges, with double-bars per x-axis range (one is the win-rate - displayed as a percentage - the other is the Time (Days) it takes to create an order).

I got it started (attached), but can't get the data to display anything correctly, and I can't tell if I'm on the right or wrong track with it.

You will find a general idea of what I'm doing from the example attached. If someone could help me move forward with this, I would be so grateful.

I will eventually make this a dynamic chart, where the data table it's referencing will update depending on which customer/rep is selected. But I want to get the graph to work properly first. Thank you!

I'm not sure what you are trying to do. I selected each data series and looked at the chosen chart type, and both data series are 100% stacked column charts. With only one "stack" in each, then each column will go from 0 to 100%. Do you get something closer to what you want if you change the chart types to a regular clustered column chart?

    Hey Mr Shorty,

    1) the graph as it is is not referencing the data correctly. If you look at the numbers, and then look at the numbers it's plotting in each column on the graph, they don't match.

    2) I would like one side (the left side) y-axis to be the Quote-to-Order Average (Days) which should be a number (not a percentage), and the right side y-axis to be Win-Rate (which will be a percentage).

Those 2 things are issues I'm seeing right now. I do not want to change the graph at all; I want it to have columns just as it is shown (no changes). But I want the data to be displayed as I described, and I'm really lost as to how to make it work.

    Best Regards,
    - Colby

Re: Trying to have Column Chart w/ 2 different Y-axis Data Ranges

If you do not want to change the graph at all, I am not sure how to help. Unless I am missing something, the reason the chart is not referencing the data correctly is because it is a 100% stacked column chart and not a regular, clustered column chart. It looks to me like it should work just fine as a clustered column chart.

At this point, I can only suggest that you try it as a clustered column chart. If it truly will not work for you as a clustered column chart, explain why it did not work for you, and what a 100% stacked column chart is offering that makes it the only chart type that will work for what you want.

Re: Trying to have Column Chart w/ 2 different Y-axis Data Ranges

I didn't know that it wouldn't work as it is. If I have to change it to a different chart, can I still get it to look the same way it is now (with double columns -- one on-top-of the other -- as shown on the current chart)? I don't understand why I can't have a pretty simple bar graph from that data, with 2 bars for 2 different sets of data, since the table is pretty simple.

Anything you can do to help would be much appreciate. I am not familiar with Clustered Column charts (I am new to graphs in excel). If you think it will work, I could sure use your help in how to do that.

    Much appreciated,
    - Colby

Re: Trying to have Column Chart w/ 2 different Y-axis Data Ranges

Assuming you are still using 2010 as your profile indicates (so your UI should look like my UI):

    1) Select one data series -> right click -> change series chart type -> Column charts -> Clustered column (should be the very first option under the column charts group).
    2) Select the second data series and repeat step 1.

Tell us how close that comes to what you want.
