    Formatting bar chart

I'm not sure how I did it before but in the attachment called "Correct Version" you can see that all the bars of the six different types of emails are grouped together. This is what I want. When I manipulated the same data on another excel all the bar graphs are separated and not grouped. When I right click on the bar graph and select Format Data Series and change the Series overlap or gap width, it adjusts it on a per bar basis rather than by Email 1, Email 2, etc group. How can I adjust it by email group so people can visually see the difference more easily?

    Re: Formatting bar chart

Hard to say much from pictures. If I had to guess, I would guess that the data for the chart in the top picture has an empty "category" (and empty row, assuming data are in columns) between each "type" of email. The data for the bottom chart lacks these empty rows. With only pictures attached, we cannot see the data range that the charts are referencing, so we cannot say for certain if this is the case.

    Re: Formatting bar chart

@MrShorty very good call out, I checked and there is a mysterious blank "column" in the legend where on the first graph I have the option to check and it separates it how I like but the second one doesn't have it leading to what I don't want. How can I reproduce this "column"? When I go back to the data, one of the column have the two main categories and (blanks) and the one that doesn't have the graph how I want it doesn't have the (blanks).

Unknown based on the pictures and your description. Can you upload an example file?

I think I'm trying to get the (blanks) to show up on this filter.

    Re: Formatting bar chart

That looks like the Autofilter dropdown dialog for a field that is part of an Autofilter range. It would appear that this field has three unique values in it, the two values that you have crossed out and blanks. In order for "(blanks)" to show up in this dialog, there must be blanks somewhere in that field in the data range that you are filtering. If the "(blanks)" checkbox is not showing up, that implies to me that there are no blank entries in that field (or, if other fields are also being filtered, that active filter has already removed all of the blank entries from the data range).

Again, from a picture, we cannot see the actual data, so it will be up to you to look at the data in the data range and determine if there are blank entries in the field and either add those blank entries if they should be there or figure out why they aren't showing up in the filter dialog if they are there.
