In the attached, I'm sampling A,B, and C at least twice a month and I'd like xlabels to increment monthly, but in a way where there are no repeated months. Right now it looks like the spacing is dictated by number of days.

You need to summarise the data and then chart it.
Thanks, but I'm not looking to sum all of the observations for each month, rather I'd like them to be discretely plotted but within the same month block. Right now, the intervals for the x-axis are picked in such a way that some months are repeated (Feb, April, June) and I want it so that the month is shown only once.
In that case use a line chart instead of xy-scatter.
With a line chart you can make the horizontal axis a Date one and set the period to Months.
You will need to use line chart with markers and then format each series to have no Line.
