average of entries per day of week from date

Thanks in advance for the help,

I have data that has many entries per day. I want to get an average of entries per day of the week by date. If there are 3 entries on Jan 25th and 2 more on Feb 1 then I would like the return to be "Wednesday | 2.5"

Columns B and C are basically irrelevant. E and F is what I'm looking for.

I have tried with PivotTable but I just can't get it to work.
