chart that plots 4 sets of data of time for 1 set distance

    Hi,

I'm trying to help my nephew create a chart that plots 4 sets of data of time for 1 set distance. Basically plot the time it takes a toy car to travel 100 cm from 4 different ramp heights. So Y axis to be distance and X axis to be time and plot the line from 0 to the distance/time point. Like the picture below:

If anyone could please give me some advice on how to set the data that would be greatly appreciated. I've been searching for hours and can't seem to find a way to do it.
Thank you so much in advance.

Here as some pointers, but if you need further help I'll pull together an example workbook.

1 - Build a table with Speed horizontally along the top, Distance vertically along the side, and the items in between calculating Time
2 - Insert a new 'Scatter Chart' with straight lines
3 - Add the four Legend Entries (Series) individually, with the calculated Time table in the data as 'Series X values' and the Distance as 'Series Y values'

    Hope that's useful

Meant to say in post above, for the Distance you want two rows - 0 and 100cm

Hi AliGW, my apologies for the incorrect heading and thank you for correcting it for me, it's greatly appreciated.

Hi AskMeAboutExcel, thank you so much for your suggestion, it too is greatly appreciated. However I don't have speed as yet (acceleration is the next part of the assessment) and I can't seem to put what you described into a working table? I'm lost in understanding how I should be constructing the table and data and how I get it to plot a line from 0 to the needed time? I'm so sorry for the confusion.

See attached example of my suggestion earlier, where the speed and distance are inputs in the yellow cells.

I've also mocked up a second sheet, where time is backsolved from displacement and acceleration. I've assumed you want curves, rather than straight lines, so extra rows are added. Hopefully you can modify this

    example - Copy.xlsx

Thank you so much that is exactly what he needs. Can't believe I couldn't work it out but hopefully now I can. Thanks again for all your help.

You're welcome. Sometimes these are a case of looking obvious retrospectively, but can be tricky to think about structuring in the first place
