    data labels: numbers vs. text

    Hello,

I've searched a bit and didn't see an answer to this. I'm setting up bar charts for some data with values that are either A) a percentage, or B) text.

What I'd like to know is

    1) Is it possible to set up the chart to have the data labels reflect exactly what is in the cell (i.e. for cells with text instead of a percentage, show the actual text instead of 0%)? Understand that the chart will have no bar for that value either way, but I want the data label to reflect the value of the cell instead of showing '0.00%'.

    2) Is it possible to have the data labels copy the text color only for those cells that have text instead of a percentage?

    Thanks...

You can manually change the data label content and formatting.

With this free addin you can link data labels to cells

If you need more help post example workbook to illustrate what you are trying to do.
