    how can I make a chart with the x-axis in logarithmic scale. the built in
    function makes the y-axis log

    Hi,

    You need to use the xy scatter chart type if you want an x-axis log scale.

    Double click the x axis. This should display the format dialog.
    On the Scale tab is the option for Log scale (very similar to y axis
    method).
