Multiple data labels (in separate locations on chart)

    Running Excel 2010
    2D pie chart

I currently have a pie chart that has one data label already set. The Pie chart has the name of the category and value as data labels on the outside of the graph. I now need to add the percentage of the section on the INSIDE of the graph, centered within the pie section. I'm aware that I could type in the percentages as text boxes, but I want this graph to update automatically if I type in new values or have less/more sections. Any help would be appreciated!

    See attached file.

I duplicate your chart and make everything else transparent except the %, then just overlay the chart on top of the existing one. You can group them together.

You can do it in a single chart.
Create the chart so it has 2 columns of data. At first only the 1 column of data will be displayed.
Move that series to the secondary axis.
You can now apply different data labels to each series.

I'm trying to understand how Andy has managed to put to two sets of lables in the same pie chart. I don't understand what is meant by "Move that series to the secondary axis.", can anyone explain to me how he's done it? I've tried exchanging the position of the data series, changing its order in the data source dialog, etc.. I always get only one set of labels to display.

The revised example includes screen shots of dialogs for changeing axis and data sources.

You can use the Up/Down arrows to move through chart elements in order to select the second pie.
Or use the drop down on the charting toolbar to select the 2nd series

That was perfectly clear Andy, thanks for the explanation. I had never used the axis property in format data series, that's why I was a bit lost, thanks!
