Charts not updating with source range

I am using excel with some VB to analyse engineering recording data. Charts are XY Scatter and the VB is used to easily selectrnages of data to plot.

In the Time axis this is done by using the Advanced Filter to select the ranges desired. This all appeared to work fine but now charts seem not to consistently update when the source ranges change. (The source data is on another sheet of the same workbook and isn't using Pivot Tables.)

There is nothing wrong with selection of the data ranges. These are correctly filtered but the chart doesn't update to reflect this. If after running the macro, I manually select the chart sheet and then click on the chart wizard button, click next and finish the chart updates as expected.

It may be that we are pushing excel to its limits as we regularly have to chop our files up into segments so that excel can handle the number of records.

Would appreciate any ideas on this.

On further investigation have found that if I clear the "Plot Visible Cells Only" box in Options/Chart and then set it again, the chart updates.

Not very clever but can include the relevant code in the module.
