unliking a pivotchart from the pivottable?

I know it is possible to unlike a normal chart from its data by selecting each series under chart properties and pressing F9 to convert it to the actual values rather than cell references.

However I need to do this with a pivotchart so that I can then grab the pivotchart and copy it to another workbook while keeping the chart intact (and I dont want to copy the entire table at the same time).

its probably not possible to do with pivotcharts but ill ask anyway.

If I can find out how, I plan on doing this all via vba, silently open the file as read only, update the pivotchart, convert it to values instead of based on the pivottable, copy the chart and paste it into a new workbook. The reaosn being I need to do this with 8 other identical charts so I can give someone the generated workbook with just the charts in it instead of sending entire workbooks including charts.

    thanks

Have you tried turning on the Tools|Macro|Record New Macro... Then perform the things you "know" to do?

Look on http://www.*****-blog.com/archives/category/user-interface/ I think I read in one of these 69 search results how to do what you are looking for. I just do not remember which one.

well i tried unlinking a normal chart going to 'source data' clicking in the values box and pressing F9 but nothing happens.

I am pretty certain it cant be done with a pivotchart so looks like I am going to have to go through all 9 and base a normal chart off the pivottable, but I still dont know why F9 or ctrl+= seem to do nothing when they should convert it to actual values.

So I cant record anything because none of it seems to be working. will check the site.

    thanks

    Neowork,

This can be done by simply deleting the pivot table sheet that the pivot chart is based upon.

Obviously you would need to make a copy of the pivot table sheet first, then delete the pivot table sheet - which the chart is based upon, then rename the copied pivot table sheet to the previous name of what was the original pivot table sheet.

    Regards,

    Adrian
