Plotting one column against another

How exactly do you do this on excel? I'm afraid I'm not very good with computers and don't have a clue what to do! I can get a graph with two of my columns on it as seperate lines, but is it possible to plot one column against another so that one column represents the x-axis and one the y-axis and you only have one line?

In the chart wizard (step 2 of 4)
select the series tab. make sure there's only one series and it's the values you want plotted
then change the Category (X) axis to the values you want on your x-axis

Use an XY scatter chart.
