Custom drop lines

In a line chart, is there any way to make drop lines only for the data points that correspond to the labels on the axis? For example, I am plotting data points for each month of the year but have the axis set up to only show the labels for every third month. The graph still plots all the data points, but I only want drop lines for every third month. Is there a way to do this?

Hi,

the attached shows a method to determine every third month, adjust the test to +1 / -1 as required.
Series 2 can have any required feature.
