Line values not showing by cursor in chart

    Hi
I have a similar (and, hopefully more banal) problem to some mentioned here earlier: when I move the cursor over the different points in a chart, it displays the line value - sometimes, in some charts. In others, however, it just won't.
Instead it displays the point's number, or the date. In others I get the value, or sometimes both, etc.
This happens regardless of whether it's a line chart or a candle chart (called Stock chart by Excel).
Hope it's a simple "push the button right in front of you"-kind of problem. I'd still appreciate it pointed out.
    Thanks

    Hi,

If you cursor over the point it should give the value, if you cursor away from the point you may get other information displayed. Do you have a sample chart showing which area is not as you think it should be?

    Hello, again.
    (And pardon the delay)
Looked into it again last night on my laptop, in order to find a suitable example, and couldn't find a single malfunctioning chart. Slided the cursor over lines and candles, and got the wanted values in return, together with dates and so on.
Problem solved, then? Well, yes, as far as my laptop is concerned. Just tested some on my regular computer, and there they are: the dates, the numbers, all with the number of the series they are part of - but no value.
At least it explains the "arbitrary" bit, as I just hadn't noticed that the performances were differing from computer to computer.
No single chart is to blame, in other words.
But what part of my home computer's menu, I wonder, should be put to work, or be adjusted?
The Help menu isn't that specific, it seems, when it comes to charts.
Any idea of what I've missed here?
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi,

I guess I would firstly try the general fix, close Excel.exe and then find and delete any .xlb file, then

    Start, Run, Excel.exe /unregserver

    then

    Start, Run, Excel.exe /regserver

also, if you are using a Personal.xls file try hiding that for a test.

Let me know how you go.

    Hello, again

I probably went about it the wrong way: I did a search the other day, but couldn't find any .xlb file.
Neither am I, to my knowledge, using any personal xls file
So I gave it up, and forgot about the whole thing, but just remebered I owe you a reply.
As I am doing most of my work on my laptop, it's not really that much of a problem, rather a slight distraction.
...Yet another issue which will hopefully be solved with the next edition, I suspect.
    Appreciate your suggestions, anyway.

for the .xlb, try something like C:\Documents and Settings\HomeUser\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel

and make sure that your folder display is not set to 'Hide Known Filetypes'

For the display, I take it that you mean that when you hover on the arrow tip you see Value 5 ?
