I hope someone can help, i'm a bit baffled by everything.

I'll try to make this simple to get my point through. Firstly the data

Vehicle - Date Start - Date End
Ex1 1/1/7 5/1/7
Ex2 2/4/7 4/5/7
.
.

Now the tough part. I need the chart to have dates (each day) on the x axis and the number of vehicles on that date on the y axis. I hope that all makes sense.

any help would be appreciated.

With this structure in A1:C11

G1: VehCount
G2: =SUMPRODUCT(($B$2:$B$20<=F2)*($C$2:$C$20>=F2))
Copy that formula down as far as you need

Now you can chart these values from F1:G16

That formula returns a 1 for each Start/End pair that includes the date to the left of the formula....then adds up the 1's
