Hello!

I am having some problems with Excel 2007. I am making a scatter plot to display the results of some tests I have performed and Excel seems to hang when I do certain things. There are a total of 12 series’ with the number of data points for each series ranging from 1200 – 3500 points. There are no problems selecting the data and making the chart using all the default values for line weights and the scale on the x and y axis. Excel runs smooth with no problems. Where I run into problems is as soon as I modify anything to do with the lines, such as changing colours or the symbols used for the data points, or if I change the default axis to anything other than ‘auto’ (ie. Max and min values or intervals to display on the axis). When I make those changes, Excel hangs for a very long time. It doesn’t crash but Excel will not respond for a few minutes, I am not exaggerating either unfortunately haha. Even clicking on a line for a data series causes it to hang for a few minutes. I am not too sure exactly what it is doing since my processors are both sitting at idle and my computer does not freeze either, I am free to continue working in Word. I am running Windows Vista and Office 2007, both with the most recent updates. My CPU is an Intel E6320 and I have 2GB of ram. I have also tried using the spreadsheet on my laptop which is running Windows XP and Office 2007 but the same problem occurs. It takes a while longer though since my laptop is very old. I have also tried making the chart with only one of the data series’ to see if that had any effect. It does decrease the hang time proportionally but it still does hang. When I export the spread sheet back to Office 2003 and use it on a different computer, there are no problems. So is there a fix to stop Excel from hanging for a few minutes when I modify my chart? Thanks for taking the time to read all this!!!

Cheers
