x-y axes trouble

Here's what I have:

Ages that people died
Year that person died

Here's what I want to do:
I want the years on the x-axis to stretch from 1800-1850
I want the ages on the y-axis to stretch from 0-90
I also want to use MY OWN data instead of 'auto' data

It's not letting me do this. (The main problem is getting the y-axis information on the graph)

In a two-column range, put the year in the left column, the age in the right, and plot as a scatter (x-y) plot, not a line graph.

What are you having trouble with?
