    Pivot Table calculated fields

    Hi,

I am having problems with a pivot table in Excel 2003. The data originates from an Access db. (The excel pivot table seems more friendly than the one in Access 2003).

I am constructing a formula 1 motorsport database which has driver points (2 drivers for 1 team). I have moved the data to an excel pivot table.

I was hoping to be able to get subtotals by row for each driver or/and team, but have had to insert a calculated field by adding points from each race e.g. =bytBarcelona+bytIstanbul+bytBahrain etc.

Is there an easier way of doing this for teams and drivers- i.e. to get total team points and total driver points as I can't seem to calculate this through grouping or some other method?

Also if I keep only the 'Sum of Total Driver Points' and deselct all the individual races in the pivot table (see attached) I don't know how to get them back.

    Thanks for any help, Tim

You need to add the race as a column so each spreadsheet row contains
    driver, team, race, points

If you can not get your source data converted to this format then you can use the approach shown in the attachment.
