    Smile Creating chart how?

    Hi experts,

First of all I am not a expert in MS Excel and thats why I have to solve a problem which is beyond my capability (looks like) and the problem is that I want to create a chart in MS Excel for comparison over time for the data shown below. It should be done by just a mouse click and it should put the values for example for john and Pjohn side by side and show how many order were put by john and Pjohn in different months.

    Name Orders Month Name1 Order1 Month1

    john 2 Jan-08 Pjohn 5 Jan-08

    I appreciate your suggestions
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for your answers. Well arranging data is no problem but I want to automatically create the chart by clicking on a button. Is it possible in MS Excel? As far as I know you have manually created the Chart..Am I right Andy ?

If you select the range you can use the chart wizard, which would be a couple of clicks.
Or press F11 which will automatically create a chart sheet.

Anything else would require VBA code.

Well Thanks again, the data I provided you was a sample data and in the reality I have 35 columns and it is quite messy to create chart in this way and in the past I have created charts in the way you people have told me. What would be good is to creat e a combo box where you can select a item d say john and the chart should be created automattically for john and pjohn. The Problem is then how to tell Excel that johna nd pjohn belong together and they should be plotted side by side.

I am attaching a Excel sheet, There you can have a look at my data which is still sample data but it is in a normal form how it looks like. Now please tell me how can I compare the value of Prefix and Preifx1 over different months and when your distinct prefix count is over 100.
I have done programming ms access but not in excel, as far as I am concerned I think it would be better to create a form and select and Prefix and corresponding Prefix 1 is automatically selected and chart is created over months.
    Sorry for the inconvienence
