Pivot Chart fields missing in Excel 2007?

    Good morning,

We seem to have lost some functionality in Excel 2007 pivot charts. Can anyone confirm this? I hope I'm mistaken and that there are some parameters or options I haven't found yet, but I fear not.

In earlier Excel a pivot chart retained its own row and column labels and drop down filters independently of the underlying pivot table. This meant that you could drag and drop these around on the chart and filter in the usual way. In 2007 we sem to have lost this functionality, and the only way to interpret or modify a chart is to go back to view/change the underlying Pivot Table.

I hope I'm wrong. Can anyone comment please?

See attached file containing pictures of the tables and charts.

The fields are no longer displayed within the chart.

You can still use the Field List top swap fields around when using a pivot chart.
Select the chart and you should see a new contextual tab in the Charting Tools tab set, Analyze. This tab has a Show/Hide button for Field Lists.
    Cheers

Ah, Excellent Andy. Thanks for that.

It does seem to offer the same functionality, but somehow it doesn't seem quite as user friendly. Intuitively I feel users like to click and drag/drop on the chart itself without having to open up another window. In addition I don't think the legend describing what's on the chart is as useful as having the drop down boxes. Any thoughts about that?

    Regards

Not a great fun of pivot charts myself but one of the requests I use to see was "how to remove field pickers from chart", go figure!

I think, like a lot of xl2007, if you are seeing stuff for the first time it is easier.
Seasoned users of previous version appear to have the biggest problem with the new ways. And I include myself in this
